  2. PHOTO SMORGASBORD USER'S  GUIDE
  3. --------------------------------
  4. All documentation assumes you have a basic understanding of how to use your computer and the programs you have purchased for it.

  6. Important information about this CD:
  7. ---------------------------------
  8. NOTICE: This CD is Macintosh OS and Windows 95/NT compatible only.
  9.  
  10. All Artworks images (thumbnails) are contained in the catalog "Photo.fdb" and can be viewed by using the Extensis Portfolio Browser contained on this CD (double-clicking on a catalog will open the browser).

  12. All documentation for the Extensis Portfolio Browser is in PDF format ("Portfolio 3.0 Browser QSG.pdf") which requires the installation of the Adobe Acrobat Reader.  However, the Adobe Acrobat Reader is not required to view the Artworks Catalogs.

  14. BASIC REQUIREMENTS
  15. -------------------
  16. Photo Smorgasbord images require application(s) that are compatible with TIF file formats.  The TIF images are saved as TIF files in Adobe Photoshop. Any other hardware requirements will be based primarily on the applications you use and the type of final output you plan to produce.

  18. The  illustrations in this collection are each provided in two formatting combinations. They are grouped in folders and differentiated by file name as follows:

  20. Color files:
  21. TIFF file format, color, 170 dpi, naming convention 001FPC01.TIF
  22.  
  23. Grayscale files:
  24. TIFF file format, color, 170 dpi, naming convention 001FPB01.TIF
  25.  
  26. USING THE ARTWORK ON THIS CD
  27. -----------------------------
  28. PAGE LAYOUT PROGRAMS:
  29. Open your page layout program.  Create a new document and PLACE the TIF file as you would any other image. The following page layout programs are compatible with TIF file formats:
  30.         Ñ Adobe PageMaker
  31.         Ñ QuarkXPress
  32.  
  33. DRAW PROGRAMS:
  34. The TIF files are bitmap files. They can only be placed in the following draw programs.  To edit the files use a paint program (see below):
  35.         Ñ Adobe Illustrator
  36.         Ñ Macromedia Freehand
  37.         Ñ Corel DRAW!
  38.  
  39. PAINT PROGRAMS:
  40. The TIF files can be manipulated like any other bitmap images in the following programs:
  41.         Ñ Adobe Photoshop
  42.         Ñ Corel PhotoPaint
  43.         Ñ Deneba Canvas
  44.  
  45. If your application was not listed above, please refer to your manual for compatibility.
